BANGALORE: After the "oath encounter" between Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and state JD (S) chief H D Kumaraswamy, both are to confront one another again on July 9 over the issue of the venue for the latter's indefinite hunger strike.
While Kumaraswamy has dared Yeddyurappa to accord him permission in front of Vidhana Soudha to sit on fastuntodeath, the chief minister has refused to oblige. "Nobody can hold dharna in front of Vidhana Soudha. No matter how big they are, rules are meant to be followed. Let anybody hold dharna anywhere without causing inconvenience to the public," the CM addressed reporters here on Monday. Yeddyurappa has suggested that freedom park on Seshadri Road (old central jail) would be the place for anybody to hold dharna.Kumaraswamy, on his part, is adamant that he will hold his fastuntodeath in front of Vidhana Soudha. "I have written a letter to the Police Commissioner to accord permission to exercise my democratic right. There is no point in dropping my dharna," Kumaraswamy said, while speaking toExpress. When contacted, Bangalore City police Commissioner Jyoti Prakash Mirji said he has not received letter from the former chief minister. "We will respond appropriately, as and when we receive the letter," he said.

It may be recalled that Kumaraswamy had announced of his decision to hold indefnite hunger strike if Yeddyurappa does not order an enquiry into the BJP's charges against the family members of former PM H D Deve Gowda of amassing wealth disproportionate to their known sources of income.
