The petition for bail filed by CPM Kannur district secretary, P Jayarajan will be taken up for consideration by the Judicial First Class Magistrate court here on Friday.
The bail petition on behalf of P Jayarajan, who was remanded in judicial custody and kept in the Kannur Central Prison following his arrest in the Shukkoor murder case, was moved by his advocate B P Saseendran on Thursday morning. He stated in the court that the police had done no justice to his client and that even a copy of the remand report was not given to him. At the same time, the appearance of a Special Public Prosecutor appointed by the government in the case, at the primary stage of the case and even before the commencement of the trial, was opposed by the counsel who moved the bail petition. He said that he was not even informed of the appointment of a Special Public Prosecutor in the case.
The court issued directives to give copies of all relevant papers including the copy of remand report to the counsel for the petitioner. The court posted the bail application for consideration on Friday.
