Heavy rains in Kolar district

KOLAR:  Heavy rains which lashed on Saturday evening and continued overnight caused havoc, destroying shops (Mandys) in the Srinivasapur APMC Yard amounting huge losses.  According to sources eight shops were washed away and the heavy storm blew away shutters. Eight electric poles were also uprooted in the rain. According to the merchants, the estimated loss is `20 lakh.Lightning Kills Cattle Mysore: Nine cattle were killed when lightning struck them at Chilkunda village of Hunsur taluk on Saturday. The cattle were killed on the spot at a farmhouse where they were tied in a pump house. MLC Chikkamadu and others visited the farmhouse and inspected the damage caused by heavy rain.
