The Karnataka High Court has issued notices to the Chief Secretary, Bangalore City Police Commissioner and senior police officers following a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking action against police officers who failed to act on complaints filed by people belonging to scheduled castes and scheduled tribes (SC and ST).

Community leader and social worker K Narayanaswamy, in his petition, stated that it is necessary and just to conduct an enquiry against the Principal Secretary of Home Affairs, Commissioner of Police and Police Inspectors attached to many police stations in the city as they ‘are deliberately and continuously neglecting their duties’.
