New Delhi: Indian women's hockey team registered a 4-2 win via a penalty shootout against Ireland to clinch the bronze medal in the Four Nation hockey tournament held at Buenos Aires in Argentina.
None of the teams could draw first blood in the first half as even after trying hard both the sides failed to score a single goal.
In the 53rd minute, Harvey from Ireland converted a penalty corner to take a 1-0 lead but their euphoria was shortlived as just four minutes later, India's Deep Grace Ekka equalized by successfully converting a penalty corner.
A fierce battle unfolded but even then none could break the stalemate as the score line read 1-1 at the end of regulation and extra time.
In the penalty shootout, four Indian players Rani, Ritu Rani, Vandana Katariya and Anuradha Devi found the target, while Watkins and Daly scored for Ireland.
