HYDERABAD: Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member K Keshava Rao has denied joining hands with TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao in wooing Telangana Congress MLAs to vote against the Kiran Kumar Reddy government during the no-confidence motion.“The allegations against me are baseless. I have not tried to pull down the government. How would it help the Telangana cause if I pulled down the government,” he asked, adding that those making such allegations are just madcaps.Speaking to reporters on Sunday, the senior Congress leader said for Telangana state to materialise, the state and Central governments should be in place. Only the Congress has the courage to deliver Telangana, he said. Rao said he was committed to fighting for Telangana state in and outside Parliament and under no circumstances he would compromise. He made it clear that there was no question of accepting any package or a regional council for Telangana.“We want the same Hyderabad state that had been merged with rest of Andhra for creation of Andhra Pradesh in 1956,” he said. The ensuing byelections for six seats in Telangana will be between T and non-T forces and that the parties do not matter much. If the Congress makes a statement on the Telangana issue, then only the poll prospects of the Congress candidates will improve. As far as byelections in coastal districts are concerned, the Congress will win a majority of them.YSR Congress Party chief Jaganmohan Reddy may capitalise on sympathy for his father, but it will not be much, he said.
