CHENNAI: Charging that the freedom of speech of the Opposition parties is curtailed in the Assembly, DMDK president and Leader of Opposition Vijayakant on Thursday said that he would “take up the issue with the people”.The actor-turned-politician was addressing reporters at the DMDK headquarters here a few hours after he was suspended for 10 days for breach of privilege during a heated exchange in the State Assembly on the previous day. “We are not given an opportunity to raise people’s issues in the House, for which the voters have elected us.” Thanking the parties for staging a walk out, he alleged that the government has failed in various quarters. When asked about the status of ties with AIADMK, he said he was against alliance since the launch of his party. He also demanded for live telecast of the Assembly proceedings.
