The state government has announced the inclusion of ImpressIT, an initiative to provide encouragement to start-up companies, to the 14th edition of IT.biz scheduled to be held in October.
Announcing the initiative, SAP Labs Managing Director V R Ferose said that the programme is aimed to incubate 10 start-ups for young engineering students. The YESS forum for startups would reach out to 194 engineering colleges. The state departments stated that they would try to facilitate funding from venture capital. “We have a system to even check the viability of such projects,” M N Vidyashankar, Principal Secretary, Department of Industries, said. Adding to this, organisers of the event stated that their focus in this edition of IT.biz would be future of Information and Communications Technology (ICT).
Emphasizing the importance of IT in Bangalore, co-chairman of the city based IT major Infosys and chairman of Karnataka’s Vision Group on IT Kris Gopalakrishnan said that one in 10 persons in the city are directly associated with IT or ITES sector.
