Income limit raised for scholarships

HYDERABAD: Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has approved to increase the income limit from Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 2 lakh with effect from 2011-12 academic year for the postmatric scholarships to SCs and STs and also approved to enhance the maintenance charges as per Central government rates.As per the recommendations and for the simplification of the categories, student managed hostels and day scholars would be merged into one category called Day Scholars, which also has the chief minister’s nod.It would enable filing of reimbursement applications easily and also simplify the accounting process with the Government of India.
