Indian women enter tennis semis

Doha: The men's tennis team may not have brought the smiles, but the women's team have performed very well.

Sania Mirza and Shikha Uberoi thrashed Thailand 2-1 to enter the semi-finals of the event.

Sania looked very much in control of her game, taking only a little over an hour to beat her opponent from Thailand Tamarine Tanasugarn in straight sets.

Earlier in the day, Shikha Uberoi beat her little known opponent Suchanun Viratrasert also in straight sets 6-3, 6-4.

With this win, the women's tennis team is in contention of a medal at the Games.
