Christchurch: Sri Lankan batsman Sanath Jayasuriya is unlikely to play any further part in Sri Lanka's New Zealand tour after he dislocated his shoulder in a bathroom mishap on Tuesday.

Sri Lankan manager Michael Tissera confirmed his injury and added that Sanath was reaching for his shampoo when he slipped and fell. Jayasuriya, however, will remain with the squad and an assessment on his fitness would be made later.

Only the fourth player to score 10,000 ODI runs, he will stay with the squad when it travels to Australia for the triangular VB Series with Australia and South Africa.

The series starts on Friday with Sri Lanka meeting Australia at Telstra Dome in Melbourne.

No replacement would be called for at this stage, and Jayasuriya — who was recalled for this tour after being dumped from the team that toured India last month — is expected to seek medical treatment in Australia.
