Jharkhand govt releases CMP, food security tops agenda

The Jharkhand government on Monday released its Common Minimum Programme (CMP), putting food security on top of its agenda for governance.

Besides Chief Minister Hemant Soren, central Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh and Jharkhand Congress in charge B.K. Hariprasad released the document here.

The 13-point CMP covers the food security bill, provision of roads and power to remote areas, development of Maoist affected areas, and development schemes for tribal and minority communities.

When the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) government was formed with the backing of the Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), it was decided to work out a common minimum programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Soren said: "Almost all sectors have been included in the CMP. We won't hesitate to add more points for the state's development."

Soren became chief minister July 13 and won the trust vote July 18. He is yet to expand the cabinet and distribute portfolios among ministers.

Jharkhand can have a maximum of 12 ministers including the chief minister. Presently, besides the chief minister, there is one legislator from the Congress and RJD in the ministry.
