Journalist allegedly thrashed by police escorting J&K Minister Ghulam Nabi Lone in Srinagar
Malik tried to approach the minister but was stopped by his security guards.

Srinagar: A journalist was allegedly thrashed by police escorting Jammu and Kashmir Agriculture Minister Ghulam Nabi Lone in Srinagar on Monday.

The incident took place after Javaid Malik, a senior editor with a local newspaper, tried to seek minister's intervention after his security guards passed a lewd comment on Malik's wife.

Malik tried to approach the minister but was stopped by his security guards. The guards pounced on him and beat him ruthlessly.

Later, they bundled him into a vehicle and threw him near a police station.

Malik has registered an FIR with the police regarding the incident.
