HYDERABAD: Celestial events, marking the beginning of a new year, will take place in the next three days, according to the Planetary Society India.Conjunction of planet the Jupiter with the Moon will be visible on January 3 soon after sunset when the planet is visible in the form of a star on the right side of the orb.On January 4, the Quadrantids meteor shower will reach its peak.A maximum of 120 shooting stars per hour will be visible to the naked eye in the eastnortheast direction in the sky. The meteor shower has its origin in the constellation of Bootes. The shower, which started on December 28, will be visible till 4 am on January 12.On January 5, the Earth will reach its closest point to the Sun at a distance of 147 million km. The phenomenon is also known as 'Perihelion'. The farthest point will be reached on July 5, known as the 'Aphelion'.
