Frankfurt: Bayern Munich goalkeeper Oliver Kahn will retire from Germany's national team after the June 9-July 9 World Cup, according to club chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
Kahn has been demoted to second choice by coach Juergen Klinsmann.
"After the World Cup, he will quit the national team and concentrate fully on Bayern Munich," Rummenigge said on Wednesday.
Kahn has played 84 games for Germany and helped it reach the 2002 World Cup final. After Klinsmann's decision to make him backup to Jens Lehmann, Kahn said he would accept the role and take part at the World Cup.
