CHENNAI: Inee Nee Poongodiyalla! Porkodi! (Henceforth, you are not a flowering plant, but flag of war), read one of the hundreds of hoardings put up to greet DMK Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi, who had a date with the city after a 6-month stay in Tihar Jail. DMK cadre, who were lying low after the assembly poll loss, the 2G case controversy and spate of land grab cases against their leaders, took the opportunity to show their dedication to the party’s first family.Sycophancy took new heights when they tried to paint Kanimozhi as a hero, who has suffered for the sake of the party and its cadre.Hoardings with catchy and rhyming slogans singing paeans to the 2G case accused was visible all the way from the city airport to her CIT Colony residence. Some even attempted poetry, painting her as “a bird who set itself free from a cage, the one who shattered the dreams of conspirators and the one who filled joys in the hearts of well-wishers”.Agni Paritchaiyai Vendru Varum Agalvilake (welcome our lamp which has passed the acid test) and Soozhchi Megangalai Sutterithu Varum Sooriyakathiray (come silver lining of sun which has disbanded all the clouds of conspiracy) were some among the slogans. Some other hoardings tried to connect her with the DMK patriarch. One of them addressed her as Manamigu Kanimozhi Karunanidhi Avargale (highly esteemed Kanimozhi Karunanidhi). The DMK chief, who received Kanimozhi at the airport could not hide his happiness. Speaking to reporters, M Karunanidhi said that he is glad to see her after a six-month gap at her home. On according a key party post to her, Karunanidhi said that the party will have to take a decision.Meanwhile, All India Moovendar Munnani Kalagam founder leader N Sethuraman criticised the rousing reception given to Kanimozhi.
