Kanimozhi free, but dad has to wait for reunion

CHENNAI: ‘Out of jail but yet to meet papa’. That could well be the status message for DMK’s Rajya Sabha MP, Kanimozhi, who will arrive in Chennai only on Saturday, though she walked out of Delhi’s Tihar on Tuesday after 194 days of imprisonment. For, despite getting bail on Monday, she needs to present herself at the Patiala court for hearing in the 2G scam case for three more days until December 2.According to a DMK party press release, Kanimozhi will be able to spend just half-a-month in December in Chennai — 14 days to be precise. After staying at home with father and DMK president M Karunanidhi for four days, she will fly to Delhi on December 7. During the last month of 2011, which was perhaps the worst year in her life, she will keep shuttling between Chennai and Delhi to attend court proceedings.Kanimozhi will be back in Chennai on Saturday (December 10) and stay on till Sunday, the press release said. After the court takes a Christmas break — from December 24 till the end of the year — Kanimozhi may perhaps be able to stay at home for a little longer.Since Karunanidhi made just a few visits to Delhi to see her, unlike Kanimozhi’s  mother Rajathiammal, husband Aravindan and son Aditya, who were at the court premises whenever she appeared there, it would be a happy reunion for the DMK patriarch with his beloved daughter on Saturday.But on Tuesday evening, knots of DMK party supporters, who had gathered outside the gates of the Tihar jail, could not greet Kanimozhi moments after her exit, since no one had a clue about the gate through which she drove out.
