Kashmir meet : PM, Musharraf invited
PM and Musharraf have been invited invited for Intra-Kashmir meet which has been scheduled to take place on June 2.

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Awami National Conference has invited Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, Sikander Hayat Khan to participate in a three-day Intra-Kashmir Conference in Srinagar next month.

In an open letter to the Prime Minister, ANC president and former Chief Minister G M Shah said that he hoped the Centre would facilitate the participation of invitees from both the countries in the conference that is scheduled to take place on June 2.

"We are quite sanguine that such an exercise conducted within the state on both sides of the LoC will certainly yield positive results and lay down a concrete path for resolution

of the Kashmir issue and peace in the sub-continent," he said.

Shah said he had "coined the concept of Intra-Kashmir Conference" focusing on people-to-people dialogue in 2001 through a detailed background note made public in the yaer 2000.

A similar conference was planned in the year 2001 and again in 2003 however it could not be called owing to the tensions prevailing in the state.

He said the conference was stalled in 2001 and 2003 due to non-availability of travel documents for the invitees and the prevailing tension between the two neighbours
