KOTTAYAM: The Kerala Congress (Jacob) has decided to claim the portfolio held by T M Jacob in UDF government for their newly-elected MLA Anoop Jacob. The decision was taken in the party state executive meeting held at party central committee office at Kottayam on Tuesday. “The portfolio was given to our party, and hence Anoop Jacob deserves it. There is no room for controversy and fracas. The Chief Minister or the KPCC president has not raised any objection in this regard. We will definitely get it,” said Johny Nelloor, Kerala Congress (Jacob) chairman. He also expressed the hope that the UDF leaders’ meet to be held on Wednesday will decide the date for Anoop Jacob’s oath of office. Anoop Jacob was also present at the executive meet, chaired by party chairman Johny Nelloor. The meet arrived at a conclusion that IUML’s claim for a fifth minister portfolio is reasonable and righteous. However, it doesn’t have any connection with the Kerala Congress’ berth for ministership, said Johny. The meet also elected Anoop Jacob as their Parliamentary Party leader. It authorised party chairman Johny Nelloor and working chairman Oommen Mathew to take a decision if the ministership for Anoop gets delayed up to the by-election at Neyyattinkara, Johny Nelloor said.
