KUMILY: The Kerala-Tamil Nadu border remained peaceful on Monday leaving some stray incidents in some parts of the Idukki district. Apart from the attack on a petrol pump, Idukki remained peaceful on Monday after the border areas saw tension in the last many days over the Mullaperiyar dam issue. Kumily, where tension prevailed for the last couple of days, also remained peaceful, Idukki SP George Varghese said.Idukki Colector E Devadasan said the district remained peaceful. No untoward incident was reported from any part of the district, he said.Varghese said that a petrol pump belonging to a Tamil Nadu native was attacked by some miscreants in Pulianmala near Kattapana. No casualty was reported in the incident, he said.He said the border areas remained peaceful and additional police force had been deployed to curb any untoward incident. Varghese said that checking has been intensified at the various check points.It has been reported that about 500 protestors had gathered about five km away from the Kumily check post. The Kerala Police and the Central Security Force personnel are camping on the Kerala -Tamil Nadu border.The Tamil Nadu police have also deployed more police personnel and have intensified their vigil on the border.
