KOCHI: The Azad Arts Club, one of the oldest musical brotherhoods of the city, will organise a special function to honour the musical legends of Kochi at the Ernakulam Town Hall on Friday. The function, being organised in connection with the diamond jubilee celebrations of the club, will be inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies K V Thomas at 5 pm.The music maestros of Kochi including Sero Babu, Maradu Joseph, Joseph Sebastian, A M Jose, M A Majeed, A G Varghese, A K Yousuf, N R Antony and Saigal Balan, will be honoured at the function. The songs being recreated to ornate the function include ‘Akale arum kai vidum’ (Jeevithanouka), ‘Alliyambal Kadavil’ (Rosy), ‘Kai vittu poya kunjadu’ (Bhoomiyile Malakha), ‘Koorakalkkullil thudikkum’ (Drama:Vishakkunna karin kali), ‘Jeevitha Madhu Nukaran’ (specially composed by Azad) and ‘Malika mukalil janichilla devan’ (Drama song by Job and George). Special speeches will be made on the occasion by music directors M K Arjunan and Jerry Amaldev. Works Minister V K Ibrahimkunju, MLAs Dominic Presentation, Hibi Eden, M M Lawrence and councillor Leno Jacob will also attend the function.
