Ladakh students' body protests against Chinese incursion
India China to revert to the status quo position in DBO sector to prevent an escalation of situation.

Jammu: An association of students in Ladakh on Tuesday held a protest against Chinese incursion into Indian territory and demanded that the Centre act firmly to counter the aggressive posturing of troops from across the border. In the protest held outside Jammu University, members of Ladakh Students' Association shouted slogans against the incursion by Chinese troops in the Daulat Baig Oldi (DBO) sector and urged the government against acting as a "mute spectator".

"People are feeling insecure due to repeated incursions by Chinese troops. We urge the Centre...to take measures to check the aggressive posturing of China," said Dorje, general secretary of the students' body. The April 15, 2013 intrusion by a platoon of the People's Liberation Army in the DBO sector of eastern Ladakh has sparked concerns among the people of the area and state officials, as the Chinese troops were found to have advanced a "long way" into Indian territory.

"As far as China is concerned, it has come long way inside (our territory)," the Jammu and Kashmir Minister of State for Home Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo, had told reporters yesterday. Meanwhile, India on Tuesday asked China to revert to the status quo position in the Daulat Beg Oldi (DBO) sector to prevent an escalation of the situation while local military commanders from either side held a flag meeting in a bid to resolve the issue.
