KOCHI: The Lakeshore Hospital management, on Monday, will move a contempt of court petition against the government and the police for not implementing the court order to prevent the striking nurses from disrupting the functioning of the hospital. “The agitators have been blocking the main road to the hospital for quite some time now,” alleged the management. “According to Saturday’s court order, we had identified a particular spot 100 metres away from the hospital building but within the limits of our compound for the nurses to conduct protest. But the nurses’ union instead has been carrying out the protest right on the main road to the hospital. The police have failed to remove the nurses from here. Hence, we have decided to move court against the police and the government,” said Lakeshore Hospital managing director Philip Augustine.Meanwhile, the nurses continued their protest outside the hospital on Sunday. The nurses’ union at the hospital ,along with the members of various political parties and other organisations, have formed a Janakeeya Samara Sahaya Samithi. During the course of the day, several political outfits, including the DYFI, the Solidarity and the SDPI, held protest marches against the management. “A march will be taken out to Lakeshore Hospital on Tuesday,” said Muhammad Unais, treasurer of Lakeshore Hospital Branch of Indian Nurses Association.
