ANGUL: A notice issued by Angul district administration to Patrapada villagers bypassing the decisions of Rehabilitation and Peripheral Development Advisory Committee (RPDAC) has triggered widespread discontent among the villagers and peoples' representatives.
The RPDAC in its recent meeting asked the representatives of the Bhusan company, government officials and affected villagers of Patrapada to hold joint talks at the village to find out the land rate. The district authorities, however, served a notice on July 30 asking the villagers to accept the compensation money at government rate which is far below than the demanded price of`Rs 25 lakh per acre, fromAugust 3. "This clearly shows unholy nexus between the company and district authorities who favoured the company by ignoring the RPDAC", said Lok Sabha member Amar Pradhan.
