A shocking case of an alleged helicopter theft has emerged from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. On May 10, 2024, a group of 10 to 15 miscreants forcibly entered the Doctor Bhimrao Ambedkar airstrip in Meerut, dismantled a helicopter, loaded it onto a truck and fled.
When the pilot and the employees attempted to intervene, they were assaulted and the perpetrators fled with the helicopter parts. The complaint was filed by air ambulance pilot Ravindra Singh with SSP Meerut Vipin Tanda on Wednesday.
Singh, along with his application, also provided copies of several emails indicating the ongoing issues, but the Meerut police had been unaware of the helicopter theft until now.
The incident took place at the Doctor Bhimrao Ambedkar airstrip, located within the jurisdiction of Meerut’s Partapur police station, where helicopter VT TBB was stationed on May 10.
According to the complaint by Captain Ravindra Singh, 10 to 15 miscreants breached the airstrip’s security and began dismantling the helicopter. When the local employees informed the pilot about this incident, he reached the spot.
The pilot was then assaulted by the perpetrators. Following this, the miscreants loaded the helicopter parts on a truck and fled from the spot. This incident occurred four months ago. Although Captain Singh alleged that he had reported the matter to both the police and aviation officials, no action was taken until now.
Meerut police have been unaware of this case until a recent complaint was filed on Wednesday. SSP Meerut Vipin Tanda has handed over the investigation to ASP Brahmapuri Antariksha Jain.
