Madras High Court issues a stay order on Shankar's 'I'; may not get a theatrical release on scheduled date
The Madras High Court has ordered a stay on Shankar's film ' I ' until 30th January.

New Delhi: In yet another blow to the Tamil film industry, the Madras High Court has ordered a stay on Shankar's film ' I ' until 30th January.

Picture House Media had filed a petition seeking an interim stay on the film as the producers, had reportedly agreed to settle outstanding dues before the release of the film.

Meanwhile, the producers of 'I' maintain the issue will be resolved and the movie will be released on schedule on the 14th of January. The big-budget film features Vikram, Amy Jackson and Upen Patel in key roles.

In December 2014, makers of Rajinikanth starrer 'Lingaa' had faced similar hiccups days before its release as the producers were accused of not clearing the dues. The film released on the superstar's birthday but hasn't done well at the Box Office and now all eyes are on Vikram's 'I' which is being touted as the next blockbuster of Tamil cinema.
