Malayatoor pilgrim found dead in the Periyar

PERUMBAVOOR: A Malayatoor pilgrim was found dead in the Periyar near Perumbavoor on Sunday. The deceased is Joby P Varghese, 28, of Mudakkuzha. The body was found on the banks of the Thannipuzha branch of the Periyar. The Kodanad police have registered a case for unnatural death.According to the police, Joby had set off for  Malayatoor Church on Friday and was missing since then. His relatives had filed a complaint with the Kodanad Police and a man-missing case was filed on Sunday morning. The body was found around noon. The body was later sent to the Ernakulam General Hospital for postmortem examination. The body will be handed over to Joby’s relatives after postmortem on Monday. The funeral will be conducted at the Kuruppampady Martha Mariyam Cathedral on Monday at 2 pm.  Joby is survived by father Varghese, mother Saramma and sister Lissy. He was working as a driver at a gas agency in Perumbavoor.
