CHENNAI: T Nagar MLA V P Kalairajan has assured local residents of Mambalam that he will take up their issues related to the revival of bus routes and introduction of new bus routes in and around the locality for better connectivity with the rest of the city. Kalairajan addressed the residents during a public grievance meet organised by Mambalam and Kodambakkam (part) Div-133 Residents Welfare Exnora at Vathiyar Thottam Main Road recently. He said that he would discuss the issue with the state Transport Minister and MTC Managing Director soon.The face-to-face meeting was presided by MLA Kalairajan and attended by Varatharajan, Executive Engineer, Zone-10, Corporation of Chennai, Ramachandran, Deputy Area Engineer, Area-8 Chennai Metro Water and Sewerage Board, Sakthivel, ADE-KK Nagar, TNEB and Geetha Lakshmi, Councillor Division 133.The major issues discussed in the meet included lack of bus services from Ashok Nagar via Kodambakkam to various places in the city, new Shopping Complex Project that was long pending in the TNHB premises situated in fifth Avenue, new indoor stadium to be built in the Mullai Nagar Corporation play ground, construction of a  mini-sewage pumping station near fifth Avenue to avoid the continuous sewage block and improper collection of garbage.Besides others, the meet also discussed traffic congestion, bad condition of roads after rains, encroachments, mosquito and street dogs menace, non-removal of debris, protection against minor crimes including thefts and other civic and environmental issues in the locality.Santhanalakshmi, president of the Residents Welfare Exnora, welcomed the gathering and spoke about the importance of such face-to-face meets which facilitated an interaction between the public and civic officers. This she claimed would create a healthy public participation in governance. At the grievance meet, C Narasimha Murthy, secretary of the association, complained that the Arya Gowda Road and Brindavan Street Junction traffic signal were not functioning for the past three months.Elaborating the issue, he said that it badly affected the traffic flow and pedestrian crossing at the junction. He also suggested that speed breakers at important junctions on  Arya Gowda Road could be constructed.Muthukrishnan from Subrayan Nagar requested the MLA to revive bus route numbers 25 B, 25 E, and 12 E from K K Nagar To Triplicane and formulate a new route to Koyambedu bus stand. Geethalaksmi Elumalai, Councillor of 133 Division, assured that the complaints from the residents would be solved in consultation with the department officials concerned. Kalairajan, in his address, promised to discuss with the state Transport Minister and MTC MD the issue of revival of bus routes and introduction of new bus routes as requested by the residents.Regarding the garbage issue, the MLA said necessary action was already being taken and it would be solved within a month.
