CHENNAI: A 34-year-old man, who was taken to the Virugambakkam police station for questioning in connection with a robbery case, allegedly collapsed and died on Saturday evening, police sources said.A special team that was investigating a robbery case questioned K Muthu (34) of Virugambakkam at the Virugambakkam police station. He later allegedly fell unconscious in the station and was taken to a hospital where he was declared brought dead, sources said.The case pertained to robbery in Vadapalani in August. Police sources said that the team had earlier questioned one Shahul Hameed (32) of Tanjore, who confessed to the crime and allegedly claimed that Muthu was also involved in it.The team then took Muthu to his native place Cuddalore in connection with the investigation, police sources said. Later, he was brought to the Virugambakkam police station where he collapsed.Road Roko Demanding Action Against CopResidents of Choolaimedu staged a road roko on Saturday demanding action against a police inspector, who had allegedly arrested a man without holding an enquiry. Police said a group of residents staged a road roko in Kodambakkam police limits demanding action against one of their police inspectors. Police said that the case involved the arrest of Loganathan, a videographer living in a slum clearance board flat for having an argument with a woman in the same flat over parking. The woman lodged a complaint and he was arrested.One protestor claimed that Loganathan was arrested under the woman harassment act but the allegations against him were untrue. “He is a decent man and there is no way he could have harassed a woman. The police did not even enquire about the incident in the local area,” the protestor said. Senior police officials intervened and assured them the matter would be looked into.
