Thane: Frustrated over not having a son, a man allegedly killed two of his three daughters by drowning them in a sea, police said.
The accused Mahesh Jagan Surti (31) and wife Pravina had\ three daughters-- Divya (7), Nisha (5) and Kushi (3), but he was upset over not having a son.
On Saturday, Mahesh along with his family went to the Mahalakshmi temple in Dahanu to offer prayers.
Later he asked his wife to go home with Kushi and promised to come home soon with the other two daughters.
However, he failed to return till the next day, causing panic among family members.
He returned last night, but without the children. When questioned, his replies made his wife suspicious and she lodged a police complaint.
Police took Mahesh into custody.
Interrogations revealed that Mahesh had taken the duo to Daman and drowned them in the sea and to destroy the evidence, buried the bodies.
A police team has rushed to Daman to exhume the body for conducting post-mortem.
