New Delhi: Women's defending champion Amelie Mauresmo has gone through to the fourth round at the Wimbledon on Saturday, winning a comfortable third round against Mara Santangelo of Italy.
The Frenchwoman took a little less than an hour to get past her Italian opponent.
Though Mauresmo's serve continued to disappoint her, she managed to keep her unforced errors in check and trounced her opponent 6-1, 6-2.
Mauresmo will next meet the winner of the match between Nicole Vaidisova and Victoria Azarenka.
Meanwhile, former champion and World No. 2 Maria Sharapova has also gone through to the fourth round at the All England Championships.
The Russian did not have to struggle much against her Japanese opponent Ai Sugiyama.
Sharapova took the first set giving away only three games. The second set was just a formality as the second seed fired in 30 winners and won the match just as the rains started to come down again on Saturday.
