MC planned at Haripad

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A medical college is to be opened on National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) land at Haripad on PPP model on the lines of the Cochin International Airport Ltd (CIAL). NTPC officials have agreed to hand over the land, according to a statement issued by the government after Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Union Minister of State for Power K C Venugopal met NTPC officials here. The Chief Minister has instructed Health Secretary Rajeev Sadanandan to initiate procedures connected with project implementation.  Sources said that certain NRIs in Dubai will constitute the private partners in the project. The project area falls in the constituencies of both Minister of State K C Venugopal and KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala.
