Srinagar: A major ecological disaster has hit the waters of Kashmir. Millions of fish have died in the Nagin lake. The stench from the dead fish has attracted hundreds of eagles too.

Scientists indicate that unusual high temperatures and then a sudden dip, depleted oxygen levels in the lake and also the pollution in the lake could be the reasons.

So far nine officials of the fisheries department have been reprimanded.
