BANGALORE: Nearly 500 saplings were planted in the bustle of Basaveshwar Nagar by Urban Development Minister S Suresh Kumar at the Subhash Chandra Bose playground here on Wednesday.
"A meeting has been convened with representatives from Karnataka State Transport Corporation, Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, and Revenue Department regarding the allotment of land for civic purposes. They have given ten acres land in which six acres will be used for developing mini forest, while the remaining four acres will be used for playground. Fruit plants will planted so that once the trees grow, the mini forest will start attracting birds, he felt.

He was speaking at a Vanamahotsava and a blood donation programme, jointly organised by a social service organisation in association with BBMP.
