HYDERABAD: MLAs loyal to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, son of former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, released a statement immediately after submitting their resignations to Assembly secretary citing the reasons for their resignations. The full text of the statement titled “Why we are submitting our resignations” is as follows: “When the Congress lost its glory, YS Rajasekhara Reddy infused fresh blood into the party. His 67-day padayatra covering 1,470 km helped infuse confidence in Congress workers and regain power in the state. Rajasekhara Reddy was such a towering leader.Reddy’s government was most popular and he introduced various welfare and development activities in the state. No chief minister of any state ruled like YS Rajasekhara Reddy did. He was also responsible for Congress retaining power for the second time.People have a lot of doubts over the reasons of Rajasekhara Reddy’s sudden demise. There was a strong feeling that those forces which could not digest the popularity and image of Reddy murdered him and it was not a accidental death.”“The present government in the state ignored his schemes and ideals and is doubting the very credibility of Reddy. The present government became anti-people as it dropped Reddy’s schemes one after the other.This government is committed to erasing the image of Reddy from the hearts of the people. And finally, the government is hatching a conspiracy to show Reddy as a criminal and corrupt person and using the law for the same.In the name of CBI probe, the government is trying to brand Reddy as a criminal. By doing so, this government exposed its true colours. Now, the Congress party is being hated by all and it is stinking.The party office turned a shelter for vultures which landed on the bodies 670 martyrs who died of shock after Reddy’s sudden demise.We can not continue in the unethical Congress. We are no more members of Congress. If our resignations are not accepted, it will spell doom to the Congress.’’
