Bangalore: An aspiring model has filed a police complaint against an employee of a top fashion designer's modeling firm, alleging lewd behaviour by one of the employees there.
The 24-year-old model, who spoke with CNN-IBN on conditions of anonymity, says she contacted the fashion firm in May 2009 to apply for a job.
Few days later, she allegedly got a message from one of the officials of the firm. The message allegedly read, "Will you be comfortable in handling clients? You know what I mean…"
Following this, she lodged a complaint at the Mahadevapura police station against the employee for sending her vulgar messages.
“We clearly told the police people we're not filing any case against them (the agency). But request you to kindly call them, threaten them, warn them once and tell them that whatever activities they’re doing now is all open,” she says.
The model says she's decided to stay away from modeling.
The fashion designer refused to comment about the incident to CNN-IBN, but reportedly messaged her, assuring action.
“If people are listening to this, at least girls like me who think that a smaller platform like Bangalore and smaller agencies, things will be clean. At least they'll be more aware and so that's the entire aim,” she says.
Police say a non-cognisable offence has been registered but they can't do much.
“We have to see the content. Once we get the print out, depending on the content, we'll call the person and warn him not to repeat this in future,” says DCP East, BK Singh.
Asking models for “favours” have mostly been untold stories, usually only hinted at in gossip columns.
But a police complaint of this kind is a bold exception.
