COIMBATORE: Tamil Nadu plans to oppose the proposal to introduce the Indian Science-Engineering Eligibility Test (ISEET) at the Conference of State Education Ministers next week.“In the Governor’s address to the TN Legislative Assembly it was clearly stated that the State government would oppose any entrance examination for admission into professional courses. There is no change in the government’s policy,” T S Sridhar, Additional Chief Secretary to Govt, Higher Education Department, said on Tuesday.These students do not have the means to enroll in costly coaching centres which offer training for national examinations. During her previous tenure, Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa had taken steps to abolish the TN Professional Courses Entrance Exam. However, the decision could not be implemented due to legal hurdles. Subsequently, the DMK government had abolished it through legislation.
