Karachi: Former all-rounder Mudassar Nazar has been appointed as Director of the National Cricket Academy, the Pakistan Cricket Board has said.

PCB Chairman Shaharyar Khan said names of Intikhab Alam, Mushtaq Mohammad and Jalaluddin were also considered for the job but finally it was Mudassar who got the nod.

The decision to appoint the 50-year-old Mudassar, who played 76 Tests and 122 One-Dayers from 1976 to 1989, was taken at an ad-hoc committee meeting of the Board on Friday.

"He is the best choice among the lot and we believe he will give his best to groom the talent. The terms and conditions of his contract will be announced in a couple of days," Shaharyar was quoted as saying in local daily The News on Saturday.
