Decision taken to compensate for limited water supply in catchment areas.
Mumbai: The rains haven't washed away Mumbai's water crisis.
The Bombay Municipal Corporation has declared a 30-per cent cut in water supply across the city from midnight on July 6.
The civic authority's decision comes in the wake of insufficient water in the catchment areas of the six lakes that supply water to Mumbai.
The city was already facing a 20-per cent cut due to the delayed monsoon.
Officials fear the lack of proper rainfall will further add to the city's water woes.
Interestingly, the BMC has decided to discontinue water supply to five-star hotel clubs/jacuzzis and pools, under-construction buildings and private gardens.
