The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for moderate rain in Mumbai after a fresh spell of rain lashed parts of the city on Wednesday, bringing relief from the heat to residents.

Additionally, thunderstorm alerts were also issued for Navi Mumbai, Panvel, Thane, and the suburban areas of Mumbai.

“Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and Moderate spells of rain with gusty winds reaching 40-50 kmph very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Mumbai during next 3-4 hours,” IMD statement said.

Meanwhile, yellow alert for light to moderate rainfall were issued for Pune, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Dhule, Nashik, Kolhapur, and other surrounding regions.

Several users on the social media platform X shared pictures and videos of rainfall and thunderstorms in the city, with dark clouds also visible.

Meanwhile, the IMD has issued several alerts for heavy rainfall in other parts of the country.

“Heavy rainfall likely to occur over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, Tripura, Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan & Goa, South Interior Karnataka, Coastal Karnataka, Kerala & Mahe, Tamil Nadu & Lakshadweep today,” the weather department said in a post on X.
