KOCHI: The Mysore Silk sales counter was inaugurated by District Collector Sheik Pareeth at the Cauvery Showroom at Jos Junction on Saturday.The counter is an undertaking of the Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation Limited. “We decided to set up this counter because of the purchasing potential of the Malayalis,” KSIC managing director G Ramachandran said. Mysore silk sarees ranging from Rs 6000 to Rs 2 lakh entwined with gold and silver threads and embedded with Russian Zarovsky crystals are available at the counter along with crepe sarees.“At present, there is a 20 per cent sale at the counter,” Ramachandran said.Also, as part of the sixth year of the Mysore silk saree competitions, these sarees, which have existed without damage for more than 50 years, have been displayed. A guarantee of two has also been given for the sarees. Karnataka State Handi crafts development Corporation Executive Director P M Parameswara and KSIC sales manager Philomena Raj were present at the function.
