New Delhi: Reigning two-time French Open champion Rafael Nadal remained on course for his third straight title with a straight sets victory over compatriot Carlos Moya at the Roland Garros on Wednesday.
Nadal looked in his claycourt best even though the first set indicated how well-matched the two Spaniards were.
But that was only till the score was 4-4. The defending champion forged ahead and dominated the game since as he claimed the second set as well.
The third set stamped second seed Nadal's authority over 23rd seeded Moya as he clinched the set without even letting a single game go, winning the encounter 6-4, 6-3, 6-0.
Good friends they may be off the court, but Nadal showed no mercy to a player nine years his senior, overwhelming the 1998 champion with another awesome display of clay-court tennis.
The 21-year-old has not lost a set during these championships and is on course to emulate Bjorn Borg's three consecutive French Open titles in the 1980s.
