ALUVA: Thiruvairanikulam, a remote village 15 km from Aluva, is spruced up to conduct the unique Nadathurappu Festival of Sree Parvathy Devi.The Sree Parvathy Temple, popularly known as the ‘Sabarimala of women’, is one of the few temples where the idols of Lord Siva and Parvathy Devi are seen facing in opposite directions.The doors of the sanctum sanctorum will be opened for darsan only for 12 days in a year.On January 8, 2012, the doors of Parvathy Devi’s sreekovil will be opened as part of the festival.A massive pandal has been erected to shelter the devotees.As many as 150 volunteers are assigned for distributing medicated water to the devotees.Spacious parking grounds are earmarked for vehicles.Annadhaanam will be arranged for 1,500 devotees at a time at Nalanda Mandapam.The festival will end on January 19 evening, with the closing of the Sreekovil doors.
