HYDERABAD: After a petition in Supreme Court to transfer the case against him outside the state threatened to stoke fires, Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu and 12 others were awarded a brief relief with the AP High Court staying the probe into the alleged illegal assets case. A division bench comprising justices G Rohini and Asutosh Mohunta on Tuesday issued interim orders keeping all investigations at abeyance until further orders.As per the interim orders issued Tuesday, the High Court division bench kept all the preliminary investigations taken up by the CBI, Enforcement Directorate, the Home department and other agencies at abeyance.The next hearing has been posted for Wednesday and the verdict is likely to be delivered after conclusion of arguments.The court was hearing a vacation plea filed by the Opposition party chief against the directions of the High Court which ordered the CBI to conduct preliminary inquiry into the alleged disproportionate assets amassed by the TDP president and 12 others on November 14. A petition in this regard was filed by YSR Congress honorary president and Pulivendula MLA YS Vijalakshmi.Later, on November 23, the Supreme Court refused to stay the CBI probe into the case against Naidu but granted him liberty to approach the AP High Court for modification or vacation of interim order.During the day, the court heard the arguments of the counsels representing YS Vijayalakshmi and Chandrababu Naidu, media baron Ch Ramoji Rao, Reliance Industries Limited and others in connection with the case.Vijayamma has already approached the Supreme Court on Monday seeking transfer of the case to the Apex Court or any other High Court in other states expressing suspicions of legal bias.
