KOCHI: The Southern Naval Command and the Kochi Corporation joined hands on Gandhi Jayanti for a special cleanliness drive. Vice Admiral KN Sushil, Flag Officer Commanding in Chief and Mayor Tony Chammany took part in the initiative where about 500 Navy men participated in cleaning the streets. The event was initiated from the foot of the Statue of Mahatma Gandhi near Rajendra Maidan. Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor underscored the importance of the exercise in view of spread of contagious disease. Vice Admiral KN Sushil, hoped that the drive would be a harbinger for a clean and green India. The cleaning drive was carried out from Rajendra Maidan to High Court Junction across Madhava Pharmacy Junction to Jose Junction to commence the cleaning.
