New Delhi: A day of hectic developments in Pakistan. The all parties’ democratic alliance said it would boycott the January elections but that was obscured by confirmation that former Pakistan prime minister Nawaz Sharif is on his way home.

Sharif will have another shot at returning to his native land on Sunday. He'll be flown to Lahore on Sunday evening in a special plane provided by the Saudis.

Pakistan's Railway Minister Sheikh Rashid said he will be allowed to return. He is likely to be accompanied by brother Shahbaz and both intend to file their papers for the January elections.

In another development, the death toll in the suicide attack on a military bus in Rawalpindi may go as high as 35. Pakistani media quoted anonymous intelligence sources as giving that figure.

The bus was reportedly carrying military intelligence personnel. Another car borne suicide attack targeted a check post outside army headquarters, three were killed.

The election commission has formally declared General Musharraf winner of the presidential elections held last month. He has until the end of the month to step down as army chief before taking over as civilian president.
