In order to increase sugar production in the state,Chhattisgarh government on Friday said it will set up a new sugar factory in Kabirdham district.

This would be the fourth sugar mill in the state and second in Kabirdham.

"Chief Minister Raman Singh has given in-principle approval to the proposed action plan for the factory, to be set up in Pandariya area of the district, during a meeting at his official residence here on Friday," a public relation department official said.

As per the approved action plan, the daily crushing capacity of new sugar factory will be nearly 25,000 metric ton, he said.

Nearly 20,000 farmers of Kabirdham area as well as those of Mungeli and Bemetara districts will be benefited by the establishment, which be operated by a cooperative society comprising farmers, the official said.

The mill will be installed at the cost of 150 crores and a share capital of Rs 10 crore will be collected from farmers, he said, adding, with farmers' share in the capital, they will have an important role in management of the factory.

Chief Minister has instructed the officials to take action as per the approved action plan as soon as possible, he said.

Meanwhile, Kabirdham district collector has constituted an 11-member committee of officials led by Pandariya Sub Divisional Officer to take steps for setting up the sugar mill, he said.

Presently, Chhattisgarh has cooperative sugar factories in Ramhepur village of Kabirdham district, Karkabhat village of Balod district and Krerta village of Surajpur district.
