Dehradun: 24 city buses off Doiwala route, commuters in a fix
The High Court has ordered twenty-four buses plying on the Doiwala route off the road. Now just 22 buses will manage the passengers travelling on the 30 km stretch. The development promises choas for the commuters. Till 2009, 26 city buses ran on the route between the Parade Ground and Doiwala, Jollygrant. In 2009, the transport department issued permits to 24 new buses. The owners of the older buses approached the HC. The final decision in the matter is pending, but HC has directed that the buses be stopped from running on the said route.
Dehradun: 8 arrested for illegal mining
The Sahaspur police seized three tractor-trollies that were being used to cart away illegally mined ore. Eight men involved in illegal mining were also arrested. The police team that was in plain clothes was stoned by the illegal miners. No one was injured in the incident.
Champawat: BSP state secy resigns with supporters
BSP state secretary Madan Singh Mahar has resigned from the party’s membership and all other posts. His supporters have also given up their party membership. Mahar said the regional and national leadership’s apathy was behind his decision to leave the party.
