On Wednesday evening, people from the states of Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu will be lighting millions of lamps at the ‘Ayyappa Jyothi’ event being held across 250 centers in Kerala. The event will be a showcase of opposition against the recent Supreme Court verdict that overturned the temple’s entry ban which disallowed women “of a menstruating age" from entering. According to the organizers, Sabarimala Karma Samithi, 10 lakh devotees will be participating in the event.
