No relief for wife of ex-ADGP
No relief for wife of ex-ADGP

The High Court has refused to set aside criminal proceedings against T Subbulakshmi, wife of former ADGP Thukkaiyandi, in connection with a land grab case. Prima facie case had been made out against Subbulakshmi by the prosecution, Justice A Arumughaswamy said on Thursday.

Originally, one M Rajaiah lodged a complaint against Subbulakshmi on September 8, 2008. He claimed that he entered into an agreement for purchase of a vacant plot measuring 12,000 sq ft in Sholinganallur from one S Ravi, who was said to be holding the power of attorney for one Chandresh M Kampani, for `30 lakh.

After the sale agreement was executed, he applied for an encumbrance certificate and came to know that the property was dealt with by others as well. He learnt that Mahendrakumar Navinchandra Kampani had executed a power of attorney in favour of one Dhanalakshmi on April 12, 2007, who, in turn, sold the property to Subbulakshmi. Accusing  Dhanalakshmi and Subbulakshmi of fraud, he filed the complaint.

The persons claiming title under the said documents had to be necessarily investigated, the judge said, and dismissed the plea.
